Originally from Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover, Quebec, Marie-Pier Houle moved to Montreal to complete a BFA with a Specialisation in Jazz Studies at Concordia University. With soloist, chamber musician and improviser Guy Pelletier as her flute teacher, she studied jazz, classical, contemporary and world music. During her time in Montreal, Marie-Pier has had the opportunity to play with a variety of artists, and has been playing with Ainsley McNeaney for three years, developing her skills beyond the flute as a singer, percussionist and multi-instrumentalist. Alongside her musical path, Marie also developed an interest in education, which led her to obtain a Bachelor of Music Education at UQAM, so that she can continue to share her knowledge and passion for music.
Nick Lavigne is a bassist and composer living and working in Montreal, collaborating with various indie/folk bands as a performer and arranger. Originally from Saint John, NB, Nick moved to Montreal after completing a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies and Performance at St Francis Xavier University, with a focus on improvisation, composition and arranging. Since moving to Montreal, he has performed with Ainsley McNeaney, The Bawdy Electric, Teen Sleuth, Valleymakers, various jazz groups and solo artists, and on numerous recording projects. In addition to performing, Nick is also an active composer, writing contemporary, cross-genre chamber music, musical arrangements for various Montreal artists, and music for film.
